Allobates

Het genus bestaat uit de voormalige twee soorten A. femoralis en A. zaparo waarvoor het genus Allobates was opgericht voor deze revisie. Hieraan werden ruim veertig andere soorten toegevoegd vanuit het oude genus Colostethus. De meeste soorten zijn cryptisch van kleur met uitzondering van de femoralis gerelateerde soorten. Giftigheid ontbreekt in alle soorten. De meeste soorten hebben een langere eerste dan de tweede vinger. Veel van de soorten hebben heldere strepen op de flanken. Tussen de tenen zijn niet of nauwelijks vliezen aanwezig. Mannetjes hebben een dof gekleurde buikzijde met weinig tot geen zwarte stippen. Vermoedelijk is bij alle soorten bij het paren een amplexus, omklemming van het vrouwtje door het mannetje, afwezig.
